We visited the pub whilst spending Christmas in Glaisdale, our first visit we had the Sunday dinner which was amazing, Tony & Yvonne were really friendly and couldn't do enough for us and out Collie (Blue) was given treats and even some gravy for us to take with us, we also visited xmas eve, xmas day and boxing day and were always warmly welcomed, Yvonne even gave us some milk to take with us as the local shop was shut. We couldn't have found a more welcoming and friendly pub for our Xmas break and we would recommend it to anyone who visits the area. A big thank you from us and Blue to Tony & Yvonne.

We had a lovely little last minute stay here at this b&b on halloween, I loved the effort they made with their Halloween decorations too! We booked very last minute and showed up after they had closed their kitchen, but they asked us if we needed food and had us a beautifully cooked dinner cooked for us after hours which we were very grateful for, and there were very nice veggies options too. The view and everything from the room was beautiful, they included breakfast bus as we checked out before 7, they made us up very generous vegetarian packed lunches for the day instead. They clearly take good care of their business, providing beverages, slippers, towels, breakfast etc. and the atmosphere was very quiet and ambient, it was welcoming and the staff were kind and funny. Due to my own issues with OCD I did a thorough search upon arrival for pests and was pleased with the cleanliness of all the soft furnishings too including the mattress and carpets. If we were traveling here for work again we'd most likely come back again! Definition of a bed and breakfast, definitely worth the money

Shocking service! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a stern stare from the woman behind bar, we asked about food and were sternly told we should have booked and that she didn't know if we could get in there (if we'd have known you had to book we would have). She then said she could get us in to eat at 6pm and that we needed to tell her straight away what we wanted to eat. Got drinks and I had a warm vodka&tonic no ice at all, I didn't dare go up and ask for some I think she would have bit my head off. We had cutlery slammed down on the table no politeness at all! She seemed to love dogs that were in the pub but she's definitely not a people person at all! Food was ok I did enjoy most of it but the service was very poor and rude. Will not be visiting again!

Great pub all round. Camped in the field out front while doing the coast to coast walk. Can’t recommend staying here enough. Really friendly service and cracking food.

Lovely traditional pub in a stunning location! Great ales on tap and really friendly staff. The food here is very good too and fairly priced. Well worth the visit!

Staying at a holiday cottage in the village and had a meal at the Arncliffe on our second night. The staff were great, really friendly and, despite the pub being very busy, the service was quick. I've read a number of reviews that were critical of the food etc, but that was not our experience. I loved the place - good atmosphere with a nice community feel about it. It's a decent old school local pub with good beer and food to match. Not haute cuisine, but if haute cuisine is what you want then find a haute cuisine restaurant. Wish this was my local!

If you are on a walking break and want a no fuss room, with comfy, clean bed, shower, great breakfast and chance to socialise whilst having a meal on a night, this is the place, its clean and basic accommodation, with good hosts and decent food. If you are after somewhere posh. . with a wardrobe, big tv and recently painted - this is not it.

Tony and Yvonne were outstanding as hosts. They took me and my walking friends in and couldn't have been more helpful after we had been rain-soaked and windswept for hours. They dried our clothes and boots, fed us and even let us stay outside in our tent as the rooms were full. Can't recommend enough.

Had a couple if days here, great food and drink. They have a container in car park to safely store our motorcycles at night ( Big Bonus) Rooms could perhaps do with a bit o decoration but the towels and bedding where spot on. Great hospitality from all the staff.

The hotel could be nice. The staff was super friendly. The shower in the room is a joke. The toilet is attached with a piece of wood. All the finishes are either not done or are horribly done. The carpet in the room and corridor have disgusting stains.

On the wettest of days we had the warmest of welcomes. They couldn’t have done more for two weary walkers. Life savers and we thawed and dried off in a lovely warm pub. Thank you!

I was reluctant to write a review for here, mainly because the owners and staff were so nice but I believe in constructive, not destructive feedback so here goes. I stayed here for the night with my girlfriend which included breakfast. First off, the positives; the owners and staff were very friendly and the B&B itself is in a great location with amazing views all around. We ate here in the evening and the meals were fine, as was the breakfast which was a customisable full english with cereals, jams, juice etc. on the side. Now the bad points; the room we stayed in (Room 2) was pretty "tired" to say the least with quite a few areas in need of repair. As in the photos, there was a hole the size of a beer mat in the bathroom floor and the safety light on the ceiling was being held together with brown tape. Also, the room door when shut could be opened without putting the key in by just giving it a fair push so we slept with a wooden wedge pushed under the door at night. When looking around the hotel, more 'cracks' could be found but overall, it was a decent stay but in my humble opinion, quite a bit of money needs putting in to bring the whole place up to standard. The foundations are already in place...the location, the views, and the lovely staff, so the rest needs to be built around these things! ☆☆☆

Stayed a night here and was really pleased, room was cosy, comfy and clean. Great pub downstairs set in the lovely Glaisdale, good food menu, excellent for overnight stays.

The Arncliffe struggles. It tries hard to please but somehow always manages to fall short. Staff try very hard but lack of investment so obviously hampers.

We stayed for one night with our dog in the room below the restaurant. We were traveling from Scotland to Norfolk and broke the journey down at the halfway point. The location was excellent for dog walking and the accommodation worked well with access to outside. The food was great and large well cooked local food served with a smile and plenty of humour. The owner and staff (Becky) looked after our every need and our German friends that stayed with us commented that it was the best food they’d eaten in the UK. Great traditional pub, good beer, food, pool table and darts. What more could we ask for!

Great place to eat drink and stay will definitely be coming back would recommend to anyone, lovely surroundings. Just been back for my second stay as before great place am already thinking about booking again staff and owners brilliant people 👏 even helped me out when I'd forgotten to bring my lighter, great surroundings made even better by the owners and staff, will definitely be back again.

We were lucky to get a reservation at this amazing place. Then on arrival, we was greeted by Becky, whom was possibly the friendliest and most helpful person I have ever met, together with Tony. Landlord and our chef for the night. The service, the rooms are absolutely amazing, I was so happy and nothing could of topped this, but then we ordered our evening meals. Nothing I have had, anywhere else, can top this. The food and service is absolutely amazing, it was a delightful to come here and 100% I WILL be returning. If you haven’t visited before, I suggest you try it for yourself!!! I never write reviews, but felt I had to praise the quality and service, in which we received here. Thank you for your hospitality and the meals were fantastic x
